ITTF-ATTU Asian Table Tennis Championships Begin

Bhubaneswar: The much-awaited ITTF-ATTU 28th Asian Table Tennis Team Championships 2025 officially began today at the Athletics centre of Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar.

Shri Suryabanshi Suraj, Minister for Sports & Youth Services, Higher Education, Odia Language, Literature and Culture, Government of Odisha, officially inaugurated the championship.

Minister Shri Suraj expressed his pride that Odisha is hosting international championships, noting the State’s increasing importance in the global sports arena. He added that it is a great pleasure for Odisha to host this championship and extended a warm welcome to the players from all 22 participating countries.

The Odisha State Table Tennis Association President Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh welcomed the participants of the ITTF-ATTU 28th Asian Table Tennis Team Championships 2025 at the Kalinga Stadium’s Athletics centre.

Shri Singh is Principal Secretary Works, Food, Supplies and Consumer Welfare, Government of Odisha.

Distinguished guests at the ceremony included Ms. Sheikha Hayat Al Khalifa, Acting Regional Vice-President, ATTU and President, Commonwealth Table Tennis Federation; Shri Dushyant Chautala, President, Table Tennis Federation of India; Mrs. Meghna Ahlawat.

Shri Sachin Ramchandra Jadhav, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Sports & Youth Services Department, Government of Odisha. Padma Shri Awardee and Indian Table Tennis legend, Mr. A. Sharath Kamal, is the Brand Ambassador for the event.

The championship will feature exciting matches in both the men’s and women’s categories. The morning session will see 12 teams competing in group stage matches, including Sri Lanka, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Maldives, Uzbekistan, Oman, DPR Korea, Macau China, Thailand, Bangladesh, Qatar, and Nepal. Odisha welcomed all participants and wished every team success in the tournament.
