Bhubaneswar: In a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, the Odisha government has formulated a comprehensive roadmap to broaden the state’s industrial landscape and fast-track economic prosperity. The session, attended by prominent captains of industry and senior state officials, focused on leveraging Odisha’s rich mineral resources and enhancing employment generation through a synergistic approach between the government and the private sector.
A primary highlight of the meeting was the emphasis on optimizing production and dispatch schedules. Discussions were held regarding the Minimum Dispatch and Production Agreement (MDPA) to ensure that mandatory limits are met and potentially increased based on industrial requirements. This move is expected to provide a consistent supply of raw materials to downstream industries, addressing the rising demand triggered by the state’s rapid industrial expansion.
The meeting saw the participation of Chief Secretary Shrimati Anu Garg, Development Commissioner Shri Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh, ACS Home, Industry, and I&PR Shri Hemant Sharma, and ACS to CM Shri Saswat Mishra.
To streamline the investment process, the state is developing a specialized database for Compensatory Afforestation. This digital repository will provide investors with clear and transparent information regarding land availability for industrial setup across various districts. Furthermore, the Chief Minister announced the preparation of an annual auction calendar for the upcoming year, a move designed to instill transparency and stability within the mining and industrial sectors.
Chief Minister Shri Majhi also advocated for decentralized industrialization, specifically urging for an increase in the number of industrial units within mineral-rich districts. This strategy aims to create localized employment opportunities and ensure that the benefits of industrial growth reach the grassroots level.
While promoting large-scale investment, the Chief Minister reminded industry leaders of their responsibility toward the basic needs and holistic development of local communities.
These strategic initiatives underscore Odisha’s ambition to solidify its position as a premier industrial hub in India by fostering a business-friendly environment backed by robust policy frameworks.
