Bhubaneswar: The Patabeda Iron Mine, operated by MGM Minerals Limited, achieved significant recognition for its commitment to sustainable mining at the 27th Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation (ME&MC) Week 2025–26.
Mining Mogul Shri Pankaj Lochan Mohanty, CMD MGM Group received the coveted award from Shri Pankaj Kulshrestha, Chief Controller Of Mines, Dr. Pukhraj Nenival, Controller of Mines (East Zone), and Shri Arun Kumar, Regional Controller of Mines graced the occasion.

The final day celebration and award ceremony took place at the Mayfair Convention in Bhubaneswar on March 28, 2026.
The event was organized under the aegis of the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), Bhubaneswar Region, and hosted by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India. The theme for this year’s convention was Digital Mining: Transforming Today, Sustaining Tomorrow, focusing on the integration of technology with environmental stewardship.

MGM Minerals’ Patabeda Iron Mine emerged as a top performer in Category A, securing several prestigious awards based on evaluations conducted by specialized IBM teams. MGM Group Director Shri Siddhartha Mohanty and Team MGM were present in the ceremony.
The mine was awarded the 1st prize in Afforestation, reflecting its extensive plantation and ecological restoration efforts. Additionally, it secured the 2nd prize in Mineral Conservation and the 2nd prize for Overall Performance. The mine also received the 3rd prize in Systematic and Scientific Development.
The accolades for Patabeda Iron Mine highlight the company’s focus on maintaining high environmental standards and resource efficiency. Over 87 mines from across Odisha participated in the week-long assessment, which concluded with the handing over of the ME&MC flag to JSW Steel, the designated host for the next edition.
