Bhubaneswar: Opposition BJD and Congress MLAs today create ruckus in the State Assembly over non-payment of salaries of supporting staff working under the Mission Shakti Department.
As soon as the Assembly begun at 10.30 AM, the opposition members rushed to the well of the House, creating an uproar scene demanding payment of salaries to the Block Resource Persons and other women staff working for SHGs in the state.
As the Opposition members did not pay any heed to the repeated appeal of the Speaker, the Speaker adjourned the proceedings till 11.30 AM.
Hundreds of women working as support staff under the Mission Shakti department have been staging a demonstration outside the Assembly over different issues.
Opposition chief whip Pramila Mallik criticised the state’s BJP government for stopping the salary of about 60,000 women working as supporting staff to different women self-help groups across the State.
