Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has laid the foundation stone for first ever ‘Adivasi Bhavan’ at Gothapatana area in the Capital city on 6 March.
This will provide an excellent and exclusive hospitality care for tribals in the Capital City, which is a critical requirement for the visiting tribal population to Bhubaneswar.
Minister SC ST Development Jagannath Sarka, Secretary SC ST Development Roopa Roshan Sahoo, Director Tribal Affairs Indramani Tripathy and other senior officers graced the occasion.
Estimated to cost around Rs 100 crore, this facility will emerge as the Multifaceted Centre for deliberation, meetings ,conference and display of the tribal art ,culture and development and accommodation.
Dedicated for the tribal population of the state it is expected to be the heart of tribal meets and congregation towards envisioning and realizing “Nabin Odisha Sashakt Odisha”
According to the ST & SC Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare Department, which primarily serves the needs of 22.85 percent of the State’s population, this proposed facility, it was demanded by all communities repeatedly .This once completed, will benefit the tribal people of 64 ST categories including PVTG .
The ‘Adivasi Bhavan’ would have accommodation facilities as well as Conference halls,Adisha second outlet with Koraput Coffee Café .
This multifaceted facility, to be developed as a project under the State Level Administrative Unit for the Special Development Council or SDC, will help to serve the need of the indigenous people in the following manner:
Accommodation: ‘Adivasi Bhavan’ could offer a comfortable stay for members of tribal communities .
Cultural Sensitivity: ST communities often maintain distinct cultural practices, dietary preferences, and social norms. This facility, could thus provide an environment that respects and accommodates their cultural sensitivities, ensuring a more pleasant and inclusive stay.
Access to Services: The proposed ‘Adivasi Bhavan’ could serve as a convenient base for accessing essential services and resources in Bhubaneswar. It could provide information and assistance regarding healthcare facilities, educational institutions, government offices, and other amenities.
Brainstorming and Ideation: The Adivasi Bhawan was a demand from all St communities to have. A place to discuss and deliberate on the various interventions towards tribal welfare ,organize sensitization camps and brainstorm on new ideas.
Art and Culture Centre: It will house the artifacts and traditional textiles ,other art forms ,both for display and sale . Koraput Coffee Café will be opened as well as second Adisha Outlet .
