Honoring Shyama Prasad Mookerjee

Bhubaneswar: The Department of Odia Language, Literature, and Culture, in collaboration with the Odisha Sahitya Akademi, organized a commemorative event to celebrate the birth anniversary of the visionary statesman, Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, at Jayadev Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.

The event was formally inaugurated by Odisha’s Culture Minister, Suryabanshi Suraj. In his address, the minister highlighted the monumental contributions of Dr. Mookerjee, emphasizing that he dedicated his entire life to safeguarding the unity and integrity of the nation. Describing him as an eloquent orator, a profound social reformer, and an exemplary statesman, the minister noted that Dr. Mookerjee’s value-based politics continue to inspire leaders across the nation. He added that millions of citizens draw motivation from Dr. Mookerjee’s enduring ideals.

Renowned litterateur and social worker Mukul Kanitkar attended the ceremony as the chief speaker. He noted that the thoughts and philosophy of Dr. Mookerjee serve as a perennial source of inspiration for everyone. He added that the nation remains committed to realizing Dr. Mookerjee’s grand vision of a united and developed India, while also throwing light on various historical milestones from his life.

The cultural and commemorative gathering witnessed the presence of several prominent dignitaries, including Ekamra MLA Babu Singh, and the Secretary of the Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Department, Dr. Bijay Ketan Upadhyaya. The proceedings of the event were smoothly coordinated and managed by Dr. Chandra Sekhar Hota, the Secretary of the Odisha Sahitya Akademi.
