Honor For NSS Volunteers

Bhubaneswar: Minister of Higher Education, Food Supply and Consumer Welfare, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak presented the State NSS Awards in a ceremony at held today at Jaydev Bhawan.

Higher Education Secretary, Arvind Agarwal, Mo College Chairman, Akash Dash Nayak, NSS Regional Director, Sarita Patel, Special Secretary,  Ramakant Nayak, State NSS Officer, Ramesh Chandra Behera attended the award ceremony.

The main objective of National Service Scheme (NSS) is to develop the personality of students through community service, said Shri Nayak adding  we all are volunteers. Even Gandhi, Gopabandhu were the volunteers one day, said he.

Higher Education Secretary, Arvind Agarwal said in his speech that the higher education department is proud of NSS volunteers. Nothing else can compare to their voluntary service. This award is a small effort before their service.

During the Bahanaga train tragedy, Shri Agarwal worked relentlessly and helped the District Administration in a big way. His service was highly appreciated by the State Government.

Similarly NSS youth volunteers were given the title of human ambulance and service to the people is the greatest religion. Nua Odisha Juba Odisha Program (Integrated Youth Development Program) launched by the Chief Minister is the transformed education system of Nua Odisha of today.

20 volunteers, program officers, NSS units have been awarded for their outstanding contribution in areas such as blood donation, tree plantation, health awareness, literacy, disaster management, road safety, drug prevention, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan to make this youth scheme more effective.

Besides, the NSS Bureau of Bahanga Higher Secondary School and AIIMS Bhubaneswar were felicitated for their exemplary service in the Bahanga train accident and about 300 volunteers, program officers and coordinators from 23 universities attended the award ceremony.

Mo college Chairman, Akash Das Nayak attended the program and said that the spirit of social service should be kept in mind.

Doing something at the individual level can make a huge difference in times of great change.

Regional Director Sarita Patel in her speech said, Keep working, reward will chase you. Even after receiving the award, our duty is not over here, the trend of this service is further. Must be continued
