Sambalpur: Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Head of Forest Force (PCCF and HoFF), Odisha, Dr. K. Murugesan, IFS, undertook an extensive visit to the Sambalpur Forest Division to conduct a comprehensive review of ongoing forestry initiatives, habitat restoration, and administrative activities across the region.
During his visit, Dr. Murugesan carried out detailed inspections of several key plantation sites, including the UTP 2026-27 plantation areas and the dense urban forest project executed using the Miyawaki method at Potapali. The top forest official closely examined sapling growth rates, soil moisture conservation measures, and the technical implementation of high-density afforestation models aimed at restoring local ecosystems.
Regional Chief Conservator of Forests (RCCF), Sambalpur, Dr. Samarat Gowda, along with other senior divisional officers and field staff, accompanied the PCCF during the field inspections. Local officials briefed the head of the forest force on divisional targets, protection measures, and community involvement programs designed to support sustainable forestry in Sambalpur.
Dr. Murugesan, recognized for his proactive leadership and deep dedication to nature conservation, has been consistently conducting grassroots field visits across various forest divisions in the state. His hands-on administrative approach focuses on directly interacting with frontline forest personnel, identifying operational bottlenecks, and resolving ground-level issues on the spot.
