Higher Ed Launches AI

Bhubaneswar: A specialized workshop titled “Skill Development on Artificial Intelligence (AI)” was inaugurated today at Rama Devi Women’s University under the aegis of the Department of Higher Education, Government of Odisha. Officials and employees from across the Higher Education Department actively participated in the training program.

The inauguration was attended by several distinguished guests, including Shri Aravind Agrawal, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Higher Education; Professor Jyotshna K. B. Rout, Vice-Chancellor of Rama Devi Women’s University; Shri S. Nithi, educationist from IIT Madras; Shri Kali Prasanna Mohapatra, Director of Higher Education; and Shri Dharanidhar Nanda, Additional Secretary.

During their addresses, the dignitaries emphasized the transformational potential of artificial intelligence across educational and administrative sectors. They highlighted the need for high-quality research and stressed empowering students, educators, researchers, and administrative staff with practical AI skills for effective, real-world implementation.

Shri Aravind Agrawal, Secretary of Higher Education, has been in the forefront of driving AI and advanced technology adoption within Odisha’s higher education ecosystem, steering initiatives aimed at building a tech-empowered academic framework.

On the first day of the workshop, participants received training on fundamental AI concepts, the practical applications of AI in administrative efficiency and education, hands-on demonstrations of free AI mobile tools, and guidelines for proper implementation.

The AI Skill Development Workshop will run through July 31 at Rama Devi Women’s University.
