Harichandan; New Chief NaMo Centre

Bhubaneswar: Veteran Odia leader and former Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan has been appointed as Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Centre for Narendra Modi Studies, Aligarh.

The decision was taken during the Centre’s Executive Council meeting held on December 3, 2024.

“It is a matter of great honor that Aadarniya Shri Biswabhusan Harichandan Ji, former Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, as well as the former Law Minister of Odisha, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Advisory Council for the Centre for Narendra Modi Studies (CNMS – NaMo Kendra),” the Centre said on a post on X.

“We are truly honored to have him as the Chairman of our Advisory Council, and his leadership will take the global research Centre to greater heights,” it said.

The Centre for Narendra Modi Studies stated Harichandan’s appointment will help propel the mission of intellectual engagement and impactful programmes.

“This decision is a fiting reflection of our deep respect for your revered leadership, academic vision, and contributions to the leadership and governance of the nation,” said Prof Jasim Mohammad, Chairman and Managing Trustee of the Centre.

The former Governor’s invaluable contribution in almost every field as well as in public discourse is in accord with what the institution stands for, he said.

As a Chairman of the Advisory Council, his thoughts and wisdom will be the torchlight to work on research and development related to the visionary leadership and policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji, Mohammad said.

He further said that, “We are sure that his association will give rise to some healthy conversations and help propel our mission of intellectual engagement and impactful programs.”

Harichandan has had a distinguished career spanning over five decades, holding several notable positions, including serving as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh and the Governor of Chhattisgarh.

He has also been elected as a Member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly five times and served as a Cabinet Minister in the BJD-BJP coalition government in Odisha from 2004 to 2009.
