H K Lal Gets EOW, STF

Bhubaneswar: Senior police officer Shri Himanshu Kumar Lal (2003 batch IPS), known for his firm and effective administration, has been appointed as the new Inspector General of Police for the Economic Offences Wing and Special Task Force in Bhubaneswar.

This key assignment comes as part of a major reshuffle across senior Indian Police Service positions ordered by the Home Department of Odisha on August 21, 2026.

Shri Lal moves to his new assignment after completing a notable stint as one of the longest serving IGPs of the Northern Range in Sambalpur.

The Top Cop restructuring includes several other key leadership shifts across the state police organization. Shri Satyabrat Bhoi (2004 batch IPS), serving as the IG of Police for the Northern Central Range in Talcher along with additional charge as Principal of the Police Training College in Angul, will take over as the Inspector General of Police for Intelligence in Bhubaneswar.

Consequently, Shri Jai Narayan Pankaj (2005 batch IPS) transitions from his role heading Intelligence to serve as the Inspector General of Police for the Southern Range in Brahmapur.

Further adjustments at the senior level include Shri Niti Shekhar (2007 batch IPS), IGP Southern Range in Brahmapur, who has been appointed as the IG of Police (Provisioning) at the State Police Headquarters.

Shri Charan Singh Meena (2009 batch IPS) moves from DIG of Police (Provisioning) to assume charge as the Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Northern Range in Sambalpur.

Additionally, Shri Ashish Kumar Singh (2004 batch IPS), who recently rejoined the Home Department following successful completion of central deputation, will take over as DIG of Police for the Northern Central Range in Talcher, while also holding the additional charge of Principal at the Police Training College in Angul.
