Bhubaneswar: Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati convened a special meeting at the New Abhishek Hall of Raj Bhavan this afternoon, addressing the recent devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam and the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
The meeting saw the participation of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, along with representatives from various religious institutions and community groups.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Additional Chief Secretary Home, Satyabrata Sahu, Principal Secretary, Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare Sanjeeb Kumar Mishra, PS to CM Manoj Kumar Sahoo, and senior officers from the Ministry of Defence.
In his address, Governor Dr.Kambhampati expressed profound sorrow over the attack, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians. “Terrorism has no religion, violence has no script,” he stated emphatically. “This heinous act is not just an attack on innocent citizens, but an assault on the very idea of India, our unity, democracy, and peace.”
The Governor informed the gathering about the ongoing “Operation Sindoor,” launched by the armed forces, which involves targeted strikes against terrorist camps across the border. He praised the bravery of the Indian soldiers defending the nation’s sovereignty and urged everyone to stand firmly behind them during this critical time.
“We must pray for the departed and the injured,” he said, calling upon educational institutions to hoist the national flag as a symbol of national unity. “Despite our diverse faiths, languages, and customs, we are united in protecting our nation and its values.” He extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved families, both civilian and military, and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured. “India will never bow down before terrorism,” he affirmed, calling for a strong message of unity and unwavering support for the nation’s defenders to be sent to the world.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi echoed the Governor’s sentiments, describing terrorism as “a war against humanity.” He highlighted the unity displayed by all communities during times of national crisis, citing the bravery and sacrifice of Abdul Hamid as an example. “Our greatest identity is that of being Indians,” he stated, urging everyone to unite and fulfill their duty to the nation, irrespective of caste, religion, color, or creed.
