Bhubaneswar: The BJP Government has dissolved the Governing Bodies or Managing Committees of all non-government aided degree colleges coming under the purview of Higher Education Department with immediate effect.
In a notification, the Department said, “In exercise of powers conferred under proviso to Sub-Section (6) of Section-7 of the Orissa Education Act, 1969, pending reconstitution of the Governing Bodies or the Managing Committees, the Government after careful consideration have been pleased to dissolve the Governing Bodies or Managing Committees of all Non-Government Aided Degree Colleges of Odisha coming under the purview of HE Department with immediate effect except the autonomous colleges, the colleges established by minority communities and cases under sub-judice in different courts relating Governing Bodies of any college.”
Where the college is situated at the district headquarters, the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of the concerned district shall temporarily act as president of the Governing Body or the Managing Committee.
If any district has more than one Additional District Magistrate (ADM), in that case, the District Magistrate and Collector will nominate one ADM to act as President of the Governing Body and intimate the director Higher Education for future reference.
If the college is situated outside the district headquarters, the sub-collector of the sub-division concerned will temporarily act as President of the Governing Body or the Managing Committee till further order.
The President of the Governing Body as formed above has to submit the proposal for formation of fresh committee within a period of three months from the date of publication of this order.
