Bhubaneswar: In a significant moment for the Odias residing in the United States of America, King County has declared April 1, 2024, as Odisha Day.
Dow Constantine, the Executive of King County, issued this proclamation, urging the community to honor Odisha’s legacy, celebrate its resilience, and embrace the harmonious blend of cultures that unites everyone.
Notably, around 2500 Indian Americans from Odisha reside in the city of Bellevue, Seattle, within King County.
Inspired and guided by Reverend Gurujee Chandra Bhanu Satpathy, the Odia Community has united to promote Odia language and culture.
Last July, King County also celebrated Shree Guru Bhagabat Day, the Magnum Opus by Dr. Satpathy, which chronicles the ancient Guru-Shishya tradition of the entire Indian subcontinent.
Originally penned in Odia, this work has been translated into 16 languages, including Mandarin.
