Gramodaya For Red Corridor

Bhubaneswar: To address the Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) menace holistically,  “Gramodaya” initiative has been launched for implementation of various schemes in saturation mode in LWE affected villages of the state to ensure hundred percent of all government schemes can be provided to the people of 583 villages in 10 LWE affected districts.

Under the initiative, all line departments ensure that 100 percent of all government schemes can be provided to the people of 583 villages in 10 districts affected by LWE.

A State Level Monitoring Committee under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary has been formed to monitor its implementation.

In ten LWE districts of the State including Bargarh, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Boudh,  Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada and  Rayagada, 583 villages have been identified where 100% benefits of all government schemes to be delivered through this special program by bringing together all departments of the State government in convergence mode, officials said.

This program has two main components: 100% benefit of all government schemes to every village/community level and 100% benefit of all government schemes to every individual/household.

In this special program Gramodaya, all the departments of the State government will work together in convergence to implement the schemes in saturation mode. The Panchayatiraj and Drinking Water Department will act as the nodal department.

To check the proper implementation of the initiative LWE dashboard to be developed for real time monitoring.  A monitoring committee being headed by the Chief Secretary will work at the state level where all the secretaries of different departments will be members.

At the district level the committee will consist of district level officials and will be headed by the concerned District Collector.  At the block level the committee will consist of block level officials and will be headed by the BDO.

Special awareness campaign, Gram Sabha, grievance hearings and outreach activities will be made for the implementation of Gramodaya initiative at the grassroots level.

A collaborative effort involving government agencies and the local community will be ensured for effective implementation of the initiative, the officials said.
