GELS 2025 To Shape Energy Future

Bhubaneswar: Shri Vishal Kumar Dev, Principal Secretary of the Energy, Electronics & Information Technology said the Government of Odisha is convening global and national energy leaders in Puri for the Global Energy Leaders’ Summit (GELS) 2025, from 5-7 December 2025.

Under the dynamic leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Shri Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, GELS’2025 is bringing together global and national energy leaders to deliberate on India’s long-term energy roadmap, said Shri Dev.

The summit is designed along the annual global COP that provides high-level platform for quality engagement amongst leaders. GELS will play a significant role in shaping India’s long-term energy future, the Summit will bring together representatives from Union Government about 15 Indian States and more than 30 national and international experts on energy.

Shri Vishal Kumar Dev, Principal Secretary, Energy, E&IT is at the forefront of the Global Energy Leaders’ Summit (GELS) 2025, underscoring Odisha’s commitment to energy leadership. His statement frames the summit not just as an event for discussing capacity expansion but as a platform crucial for strengthening institutions, improving coordination, and building collaboration among Indian states in the coming decade of energy reform.

As the official leading the summit, Shri Dev anchors the narrative in Odisha’s legacy as the first state in India to implement power sector reforms in the 1990s. This historical context provides a strong foundation for the GELS 2025 theme, “Powering India: Sufficiency, Balance, Innovation,” positioning Odisha as a pioneer capable of hosting a national “COP for India’s energy sector.”

His role involves ensuring the state is “fully geared up to host this landmark Summit,” which brings together an eminent lineup of global and national experts, Union and State ministers, and senior officials. By focusing on shared learnings, best practices, and innovative strategies, Shri Dev’s leadership aims to solidify GELS 2025 as a sustained mechanism for dialogue that will play a significant role in shaping India’s long-term energy roadmap, aligning with the national goal of achieving Net Zero by 2070.
