G Rajesh; New CEO CAMPA

Bhubaneswar: The Government of Odisha has appointed senior Indian Forest Service (IFS) Officer G Rajesh  as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA), Odisha. The official notification was released earlier today.

Prior to this significant assignment, Shri Rajesh, an IFS Officer of 2001 Batch  held the position of Director, Environment-cum-Special Secretary to the Government in the Forest, Environment & Climate Change (FE&CC) Department. His experience in this crucial role is expected to bring valuable insights and strategic direction to the management of CAMPA funds in the state.

In addition to his responsibilities as CEO of CAMPA, Shri Rajesh has also been entrusted with the additional charge of Chief Conservator of Forests Planning, Programme & Afforestation (CCF(PP&A) at the office of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) & Head of Forest Force (HoFF), Odisha. This dual responsibility underscores the government’s focus on integrated planning and execution of afforestation and forest management initiatives in the state.

Shri Rajesh is a seasoned IFS officer with a distinguished career marked by his contributions to mining sector, environmental conservation and forest management in Odisha. His understanding of the state’s ecological landscape and his previous role within the FE&CC Department position him well to lead CAMPA in its crucial mandate of utilizing compensatory afforestation funds for the regeneration and protection of Odisha’s forests and wildlife.

The appointment comes at a significant time as Odisha continues its efforts to enhance its green cover and mitigate the impacts of climate change. CAMPA plays a pivotal role in channeling funds received as compensation for forest land diverted for non-forestry purposes towards afforestation, wildlife management, and other related activities.

Sources within the Forest Department expressed optimism about Shri Rajesh’s appointment, highlighting his commitment and expertise in the field. They believe his leadership will further strengthen the implementation of CAMPA projects and contribute significantly to the state’s environmental goals.

Shri Rajesh is expected to take charge of his new responsibilities with immediate effect. Stakeholders and environmental organizations will be keenly watching his approach and the new initiatives that will be undertaken under his leadership to bolster Odisha’s forest and environmental conservation efforts through the CAMPA framework.
