Bhubaneswar: Food Civil Supplies Minister, Krushna Chandra Patra, has reportedly become the latest victim of an alleged land fraud, filing a complaint with the Dhenkanal Town Police today. The Minister claims he was duped out of a significant sum in a failed land deal.
According to the complaint lodged by Minister Shri Patra, he had provided an advance payment of Rs 25 lakh to an individual residing in the Banasingha area. The payment was made with the intention of purchasing a parcel of land.
However, the transaction reportedly did not materialize as the seller, for reasons yet to be fully disclosed, was unable to deliver the promised land. When Minister Shri Patra sought the return of his Rs 25 lakh, he was allegedly issued a blank cheque.
The issuance of a blank cheque, often a red flag in such transactions, prompted the Minister to take formal action. He has approached the Dhenkanal Town Police, urging them to investigate the matter thoroughly and bring the alleged fraudster to justice.
Police sources have confirmed the receipt of the complaint and stated that an investigation has been launched. The identity of the accused individual from Banasingha has not yet been released. Further details regarding the nature of the land, the specific circumstances leading to the failure of the deal, and the progress of the investigation are awaited as authorities delve into the case.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with land transactions and highlights the importance of due diligence in such dealings, even for prominent figures.
