Bhubaneswar: While Secretary, Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety, Sanjay Mittal appreciated the efforts of the State Government on Road Safety Measures, Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena has underscored the need of scaling of awareness and training across the State with a focus on Road Safety.
Shri Mittal 30 August called on Chief Secretary, Pradeep Kumar Jena, where Transport Commissioner, Amitabh Thakur was also present during this visit.
Secretary, SCCORS, Shri Mittal expressed his pleasure on the ongoing steps taken by Government of Odisha on road safety activities.
He expressed his pleasure on the measures taken by the Health Department, Transport Department & Police on Road Safety activities.
But he expressed his displeasure for indifference attitude of NHAI.
He requested Chief Secretary for intervention in this regard, so that NHAI takes up the responsibility in this regard to minimize the road accidents and fatalities.
Chief Secretary Shri Jena advised the Transport Commissioner for taking up massive training program of engineers on road engineering from Block level to Urban Local Bodies (ULB) level by an Expert Team.
Shri Jena advised for sensitization of Auto Drivers and control the increase of Autos catering Bhubaneswar.
He also suggested for taking up Awareness in School and Colleges by experts particularly in PTM Day.
Road side PHC, CHC to be trained on TCC, said Shri Jena
At least 10 boys of the Road side villages are to be trained by Red Cross /St John First Aid Team so that the accident victims will be taken proper care.
Annual Conclave of Road Safety volunteers should be made to encourage the people and awareness will be spread, advised CS.
Transport Commissioner Shri Thakur is taking up awareness, enforcement and training program across the state on Mission Mode, said a senior official of the Department of Commerce & Transport.
