Cuttack: Till the month of September in the financial Year 2022-23 record number of 29301 cases have been detected against 18237 that of last year with an increase of 60% in detection of cases, said a senior official of Directorate of Excise.
Ashish Kumar Singh, Excise Commissioner, Odisha reviewed the progress of operation of enforcement.
Ram Chandra Palata, Addl. Commissioner of Excise,.Dibya Lochan Mohanta, Sarat Chandra Mohapatra, Joint Commissioners of Excise, Ram Chandra Mishra, EDC, Enforcement, Rajat Kumar Praharaj, Dandapani Behera, Dambaraudhara Khanda EDCs and all Superintendents of Excise attended.
The objective of holding this meeting is to monitor sustained enforcement and to counter the illicit distillation of liquor and trafficking of Narcotics in the on-going festive occasion.
Up to the Month of September of the financial year (2022-23), record number of 936 cases under NDPS Act have been detected with arrest of 1080 persons against detection of 315 cases and 379 persons arrested last year, showing growth of 197.14%.
Further 14312 Grams of Heroin seized this year against 4076 Grams last year till September.
25502 Kg of Ganja seized this year against 12692 Kg last year.
EI & EB, Berhampur Unit has detected 19 cases, Sambalpur district 12 cases and Malkangiri district 11 cases in the month of September.
Koraput district has seized 917 KGs, EI & EB, Berhampur 720 KGs and Kalahandi 393.2 KGs of Ganja in the month of September.
EI & EB, Cuttack Unit has seized 784 Grams, State Flying Squad 692 Grams and Jagatsinghpur 679 Grams of Heroin in the month of September.
Rourkela district has seized 979.06 LPL, EI & EB, Berhampur 381.402 LPL and Keonjhar 110.97 LPL of Duplicate IMFL in the month of September.
Mayurbhanj district has detected 36.75 LPL, Gajapati 25.35 LPL and Khordha 17.1 LPL of Non-Duty Paid Foreign Liquor.
The Excise Commissioner appreciated the performance/ achievement of Excise officers up to September of 2022-23.
He, instructed all Superintendents of Excise & EI EB Units to strengthen & enhance the enforcement measures in this year 2022-23 and to conduct frequent raids against the illegal manufacturing, distributing and sale of ID Liquor/ duplicate IMFL / Non-duty paid IMFL / NDPS items in the state in the coming festive occasion.
Further, the Superintendents were instructed to keep intelligence on Hemp plant cultivation and to chalk out plan for destruction and registration of cases.
