Elderly Pension Launched

Bhubaneswar: Persons aged 80 years and above and those with disabilities of 80 per cent or above will get a monthly pension of Rs 3500 from today. Earlier, they used to get a pension of Rs 1200, which has been increased by Rs 2300 to Rs 3500. This will benefit 4,17,496 people in the state.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today launched the enhanced allowance distribution programme at Keonjhar.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that a society in which senior citizens, differently-abled and helpless people are respected and respected is an ideal society. The society needs to be sensitive towards them.

Senior citizens are the temple of our faith and faith. Their smiles, happiness and unwavering faith in the youth are our rare assets,” the Chief Minister said.

Speaking at a state-level function held at Dharanidhar University ground in Keonjhar, the Chief Minister said that be it the beneficiaries of the National Social Programme or the beneficiaries of Madhubabu Pension, everyone will get this enhanced pension. It also includes 9913 persons from Keonjhar district. Today’s event is an important step in our journey towards an ideal society. The new government has spoken and spoken to you. I am personally very happy to launch this enhanced pension for all of you,” he said.

The Chief Minister further said that as a human being, if you can give some help or support to the elderly and the disabled, it gives happiness to the real mind and attains virtue. The elderly, the differently-abled come to the chief minister’s grievance cell with their problems. I give priority to their problems and give instructions to solve them. The satisfaction That I am getting by helping the poor, the disabled and the needy is the best capital of my life, he said.

“It has only been 7 months since our government came to power. In these seven months, our government has taken many important steps for the welfare of the people. Two days ago, an agreement was signed to implement the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana in the state. Through this, the poor and needy people of the state will get better medical facilities. Our legendary Prime Minister Narendra Modiji has added all senior citizens above 70 years of age to this scheme. The people of the village ganda can get medical facilities in good hospitals in the city.

At the end, the Chief Minister said that our government is making continuous efforts for the prosperity of Odisha and the welfare of all sections of the state like farmers, women, labourers, youth etc. Our government is also giving importance to the development of tribals, poor and backward people. Our government is working to give equal happiness to all sections of the people. Work will be done as per the wishes of the people of the state and the state will be developed.

 The Chief Minister said that a mega steel plant will be constructed in Keonjhar soon and an agreement will be signed for this steel plant at the Utkarsh Odisha programme to be held in Bhubaneswar in the last week of this month. Our government has decided to set up industries and factories not only in Keonjhar but also in all the districts of the state. He urged the people present to work together for the overall development of Keonjhar district and the state.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister distributed enhanced adult pension to Rakshakar Jena, Yogendra Nayak, Rajani Mohanty from Keonjhar district and enhanced disability allowance to Satyabhama Sethi, Aniruddha Das and Jaykrishna Mahanta from Keonjhar district. Members of the Council of Ministers, MPs, MLAs and District Collectors were present on the occasion.

MLA Badri Narayan Patra, MLA Sanatan Mahakud, MLA Akhil Chandra Nayak, MLA Dr. Fakir Mohan Nayak and Keonjhar Zilla Parishad Chairman Smt. Sagarika Sahu, among others, said that the enhanced allowances would be very helpful in making the elderly and differently-abled financially clean and in their daily lives.

On the occasion, Keonjhar Collector, Vishal Singh delivered the welcome address and ADM, Alok Kumar Pradhan proposed vote of thanks.
