Bhubaneswar: Ace Indian Forest Service(IFS) Officer Dr.Sanjeet Kumar has been appointed as Director National Zoological Park, New Delhi.
2009 Batch IFS Officer Dr.Kumar at present is having three crucial assignments in Government of Odisha.
He is RCCF Bhubaneswar, General Manager OFDC and CCF Kenduleaf Odisha.
Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has issued a notification in this regard about the new assignment of Dr.Kumar.
Director NZP, New Delhi is a prestigious assignment and in fact Delhi Zoo attracts huge foot fall and is one of the iconic Zoo in the country.
Dr.Kumar had applied for Central Deputation and MoEF&CC has accepted one of the most efficient, honest and wildlife lover as Delhi Zoo Chief, said a former PCCF.
Dr.Kumar held wide-ranging assignments in Government of Odisha in Department of Forest Environment and Climate Change.
He served as DFO Rourkela and arranged Massive Urban plantation, bald hill plantation and other plantations.
As a wildlife lover he prepared a Comprehensive Action Plan for elephant management.
He has all along supported people living in and around forest areas so he took Livelihood initiatives in forest fringe people involving STs & Woman under JICA Assisted Odisha Forestry Sector Development Project Phase-I.
He has also served as DFO Sambalpur and successfully implemented Flagship Program of Green Mahanadi Mission through massive awareness program to plantation in 01 km zone of River Mahanadi.
He also organized Massive livelihood & capacity building in forest fringe VSS through OFSDP project.
As CF Working Plan he has also written Working Plan for Sambalpur Forest Division.
As Deputy Director Nandan Kanan Zoological Park Dr.Kumar has taken transformative steps to make Nandankanan Zoo as world class zoo through focused breeding, modernization of zoo lab & Veterinary service, enriched Zoo education through many citizen centric services like Sunday bird walk, zoo internship programme, zoo volunteer schemes, etc.
He also revised Zoo Master Plan, Designing of Enclosures, Planning of enrichment and zoo furniture.
Dr.Kumar was instrumental in organizing , National Zoo Director Conference at Bhubaneswar in 2022.
His long experience was taken to consideration before appointing him as Chief of Delhi Zoo, said sources.
