Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of the First World Odia Language Conference, eminent linguist Debi Prasanna Pattanayak will be honoured with the First Vishwa Odia Samman.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will felicitate eminent linguist Padma Shri Dr. Pattnayak with world-wide recognition of his life-long research on Odia language.
He will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 20 lakh. Dr. Patnaik’s research has greatly enriched the Odia language.
Dr. Pattnayak is well known as a distinguished linguist from India. Dr. Pattnayak has been the founder Director of the Central Institute of Indian Language, Mysore.
Dr.Pattnayak has been honoured for his efforts towards the development of Indian languages. His valuable contribution towards the recognition of Odia language is well known.
A committee laid by G. Uma Maheshwar Rao, the Vice-President of the Indian Language Council and the former professor of the Language Department of Hyderabad University, Vice-Chancellor of the Odia University Sabita Pradhan, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Culture, Prof. P K Swain and the Project Director of the Centre of Excellence for Odia Language studies, Department of Education Prof Basanta Kumar Panda has unanimously recommended the name of Prof. Debi Prasanna Pattanayak for this prestigious award.
