Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Smriti Irani today came down heavily on the BJD government and appealed to the voters to give votes twice to BJP in the fourth phase elections in the State.
The BJP leader addressed Vijay Sanklap Samavesh at Kujanga in Jagatsinghpur district, Aul in Kendrapara district and Remuna in Balasore district today.
She appealed to people to oust the corrupt and remote-controlled BJD government and instead vote BJP to power to form a double engine government both at the Centre and in the State to fulfil long-standing demands of people of the area.
She claimed the Modi government was providing huge funds for undertaking development projects in Odisha but the BJD ministers, MLAs and activists were looting the money.
Shrimati Irani also claimed that the Modi government had provided funds under the Jal Jeevan Mission programme and houses under PMAY but the money never reached the targeted and needy people.
She declared that if voted to power, the BJP would appoint an Odia CM. Irani accused BJD leaders of involvement in a Rs 32,000-crore chit fund scam, a Rs 60,000-crore mining scam, and criticised the state’s ruling party for awarding them poll tickets. “How long will Odisha endure all this?” she questioned.
Irani alleged that the BJD government had fostered land, coal, sand, and mining mafias in the state, with ministers, MLAs, supporters, and remote controllers from Tamil Nadu working incessantly to plunder the state’s resources.
In contrast, she highlighted Narendra Modi’s commitment to building a developed India by 2047. “To witness a deluge of development, vote for the lotus on June 1 and establish a double-engine government in the state,” she urged
She said that if people really wanted development, they should vote for BJP and send the remote control back to Tamil Nadu.
The Union Minister alleged that the BJD government led by Naveen Patnaik has not done anything in its 25-year rule to control floods in Mahakalapada, Rajkanila and Patkura.
She assured people of Kendrapara that the long-standing demand of people to set up a medical college in Kendrapara would be fulfilled after BJP came to power in the State.
Raising the issue of the missing key of the Ratna Bhandar of Sri Jaganath temple, Irani said BJP would make the probe report of missing keys of Ratna Bhandar public and expose people behind the same.
