New Delhi: In a significant development for the cooperative sector in Eastern India, Shri T. Prasad Rao Dora, the President of the Odisha State Cooperative Bank, has been elected unopposed to the Governing Council of the National Cooperative Union of India(NCUI).
The election for the apex cooperative body’s governing council features several constituencies representing different sectors of the cooperative movement across the country.
Shri Dora represented the constituency dedicated to State Cooperative Banks, a segment that includes major state-level cooperative banking institutions. With consensus building around his candidacy among the eligible delegates, he secured his seat on the council without a contest.
Shri Dora brings extensive leadership experience to the national body. In addition to guiding the operations of the Odisha State Cooperative Bank, he has previously been inducted into the Governing Council of the National Co-operative Development Corporation and has held leadership roles in various national and international fishery cooperative organizations.
His unopposed entry into the Governing Council is expected to provide a strong voice for the cooperative banking interests of Odisha and the wider region at the national policymaking level.
