Doctorate For Ambika Das

New Delhi: In recognition of lifelong commitment to ethical media, senior journalist Shri Ambika Prasad Das was conferred with an honorary doctorate in journalism by Chicago Open University, USA, during a grand convocation ceremony held on March 21, 2026.

The event, organized at the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi, celebrated his nearly four-decade-long career characterized by fearless reporting and social responsibility.

Shri Das, who currently serves as the Editor of the regional publication ‘Odisha Express’, has been a prominent figure in the media landscape since 1986. His work is best known for the column titled “Sata Kahibaku Kiaan Daribi”, where he has consistently demonstrated moral courage and a commitment to realistic analysis.

Beyond traditional reporting, Shri Das has made notable contributions to public policy, media management, and social awareness, which the university cited as key factors for this prestigious distinction.

This honor adds to a series of accolades for the veteran editor and his publication. In January 2020, Odisha Express was recognized by the Union Government for its outstanding role in promoting yoga, with Shri Das receiving a national award from the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting in New Delhi.

The convocation was attended by various dignitaries and intellectuals who noted that such honors serve to encourage value-based journalism and social accountability in the modern era.

Following the announcement, well-wishers and colleagues from across the state have extended their congratulations to Shri Das for his continued dedication to the field of journalism.
