Puri: The newly constituted Srimandir Management Committee held its first meeting on Wednesday, September 3, at the Neeladri Bhakta Nivas conference hall.
Chaired by Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb, the session addressed several key issues concerning the temple’s administration and the devotee experience.
Shree jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Chief Administrator, Dr.Arabinda Kumar Padhee outlined the discussion points. A major point of discussion was the implementation of a queue system, often referred to as “Dhadi Darshan,” which is scheduled to begin on September 15.
The committee reviewed the preparations for this system, which aims to streamline the movement of pilgrims and reduce congestion, particularly during festivals. A related issue on the agenda was the relocation of the ‘hundi’ (donation box) from the Jagamohan area to facilitate the queue system’s flow.

Another significant topic was the management and verification of valuables in the temple’s treasury, the Ratna Bhandar. The committee is set to take up the inventory process of the treasure trove.
The meeting also included a formal welcome for the newly appointed members and a discussion on the formation of various sub-committees to handle different aspects of the temple’s operations.
Officials present at the meeting included SJTA Chief Administrator Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Puri District Collector Shri Dibya Jyoti Parida, and Superintendent of Police Shri Prateek Singh, who provided insights on administrative and security matters. The committee’s decisions are expected to set the course for improved governance and a more organized darshan experience for devotees in the coming months.
