DGP Assures Quality Service

Bhubaneswar: Top Cop Yogesh Bahadur Khurania has taken charge as the new Director General of Odisha Police on 16 August.
When DGP Shri Khurania arrived at the police headquarters, he was welcomed by the senior officers present with flowers.
Later, he was given a “guard of honour”. DGP paid tribute to the martyrs by laying wreaths at the memorial.

Responding to the media, DGP Shri Khurania said that Odisha Police has a special honor and glory. He felt honored to assume the responsibility as the Chief of Police and expressed the view that providing quality police service to the people of the state is the biggest duty.

On the call of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, DGP Shri Khurania said that he will focus on showing good behavior to the employees working in the police station and the individuals who come to the police station to complain. In the past days, Odisha Police has achieved significant success in the fight against Maoists and paid tributes to the martyred jawans in the fight.

Emphasis will be placed on maintaining peace and order, crime suppression, crime prevention. DGP Shri Khurania said that special attention will be paid to atrocities and crimes against the weaker sections of the society, children and women belonging to Scheduled Castes and Tribes.

DGP said that special steps will be taken to successfully deal with the growing cyber crime in the current situation.

He said that the police will take strict action against the spread of drugs and crime in the coming days. DGP Shri Khurania responded to the media that all efforts will be made to pay homage to the public.

It is worth noting that Shri Khurania, a 1990 batch IPS officer, is a native of Haryana. During his career, he has worked as the SP of Sonepur, Nayagarh, Jajpur, Ganjam, Mayurbhanj, Rourkela. Later he worked as DIG in Southern Range (Brahmpur).

In addition, he took charge of Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Commissionerate as Additional Commissioner of Police. Later he worked as DIG Northern Range (Sambalpur). Similarly, IGP (SAP), IGP (Operations), IGP (Training) in BPSPA, IGP (Crime Branch), Worked as IGP (Vigilance).

Later he served as Additional Director General of Guards (Vigilance), Cuttack, Additional Director General of Guards (Provisioning). He also worked successfully as Commissioner of Police (Bhubaneswar-Cuttack).
In 2018 he went on deputation to the Center and held various high positions in BSF. In June 2023, he was promoted to the rank of Director General of Police and was working as Special Director General at the BSF headquarters in New Delhi.

Many senior police officers of the state police department and staff of the police headquarters were present when DGP Shri Khurania took charge.
