Bhubaneswar: Principal Secretary Energy and Finance, Vishal Kumar Dev today visited the office of EIC Electricity and took review of various projects and programmes being implemented by the office.
He also reviewed the electricity duty collection against the target and collection electricity dues through One Time Settlement (OTS).
Shri Dev discussed ongoing awareness campaigning on electrical safety inspection and energy conservation and directed the officials to ensure speedy delivery of services to the people.
The Principal Secretary advised for simplification of the process for electrical inspection and certification and opening of new standard testing laboratories in the State.
Discussion on examination of Electrical Workman and Supervise Certificate Competency was also held during his visit. As a lot of workforce is needed for constriction of electrical infrastructures and quality power supply to the people, there is a need to conduct the examinations more than once in a year, Shri Dev advised the EIC officials.
He also directed to prepare a module for conducting the test on online mode. In 2022, a total of 4003 people have cleared the workmen permit exam while more than 300 candidates have cleared the Supervise Certificate Competency test, informed EIC Suresh Chandra Maharana.
As ITI electrical passed out students can be directly appointed as Workman Permit, this facility should be made available in all district headquarters, he suggested.
The EIC has presented details on procurement of electrical equipment and goods during last year and target set for this financial year.
Senior officials from the Energy Department and EIC Electricity attended the meeting.
