Bhubaneswar: In a move to advance citizen-centric digital services, a state-level workshop on User Experience and Design System (UX4G) was held at the State Convention Hall, with a strong focus presented by Shri Vishal Kumar Dev, Principal Secretary Electronics & Information Technology and Energy Department.
As the Chief Guest, Shri Dev delivered a powerful inaugural address, stressing the critical importance of synergy and close coordination among government organizations. He stated that this collaboration is essential to ensure that digital platforms and services are designed to deliver maximum benefits to the public.
The workshop, jointly organized by the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), the Department of Electronics & IT, Government of Odisha, and the Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC), brought together officials and developers to deepen their understanding of UX and design principles.

Dr. Pradeep Kumar Raut, Special Secretary of the Department of Electronics & Information Technology, welcomed participants and reiterated the need to apply UX and design system concepts to strengthen citizen-centric applications.
Shri Debabrata Nayak, Chief Technology Officer at NeGD, emphasized in his keynote speech that a robust UX and design system is key to improving the efficiency, timeliness, and simplicity of service delivery.
The event featured five technical sessions led by UI/UX experts, including Mr. Ajit Kumar and Ms. Stuti Sharma from NeGD, and Mr. Niladri Bihari Mohanty, Scientist at NIC Odisha. These sessions were coordinated by Mr. Jayant Kumar Mishra, Scientist at NIC Odisha.
A new brochure titled “UI/UX in e-Governance” was released during the workshop, providing a detailed guide for officials and developers.
In his vote of thanks, Dr. Ashok Kumar Hota, Deputy Director General and State Informatics Officer at NIC Odisha, announced future plans to organize tech boot camps focused on Artificial Intelligence and other emerging technologies for government officers.
The workshop’s success marks a pivotal moment in Electronics & IT Sector in Odisha’s commitment to leveraging technology for better governance and improved public service delivery.
