Debi Mishra Leads BJD

Angul: In a significant move to strengthen its organizational base, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) held a district executive meeting in Angul where party leaders called for a proactive struggle against the current BJP State Administration.

BJD Senior Vice President Shri Debi Prasad Mishra attended the event as the chief guest, while Party President and Leader of Opposition Shri Naveen Patnaik addressed the gathering and extended his greetings through a video conference. Shri Braja Kishore Pradhan, District President BJD chaired the Meeting.

The meeting saw a high-profile attendance of veteran leaders and grassroots representatives, including eight-term MLA Shri Nalini Kanta Pradhan, former Minister and Deputy Speaker Shri Rajnikant Singh, former MP Shri Mahesh Sahu, and former MLAs Shri Sushant Kumar Behera and Shri Mukesh Kumar Pal. Other prominent attendees included District Council Chairperson Smt.Babita Pradhan, District Women BJD President Smt. Bidyutalata Pradhan, and former District President Shri Mahendra Kumar Bastia.

Before the formal proceedings, guests paid their respects by garlanding the statues of former Chief Ministers Biju Patnaik and Nabakrushna Chowdhury. The gathering served as a platform to felicitate newly elected district and state committee workers, emphasizing a renewed focus on strengthening the party at the grassroots level.

The core agenda of the meeting centered on a scathing critique of the BJP-led “double engine” government. Party leaders accused the current administration of failing to address critical issues such as farmer welfare, unemployment, and women’s safety. The BJD leadership specifically targeted the government over the controversial enforcement of pollution certificate rules, describing it as a “Hitler-style” tactic and an unnecessary tax burden on common citizens.

Shri Debi Prasad Mishra and other speakers alleged that the BJP government has ignored the basic problems of the people while imposing non-existent taxes on essential commodities.

In response, the BJD has resolved to take its protests to the streets in the coming days to champion the cause of the public. This executive meeting in Angul marks the beginning of a state-wide series of similar district-level gatherings. The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shri Mahendra Bastia.
