Dateline For Parikrama

Puri: Chief Secretary Pradeep Kumar Jena today reviewed the progress of the much-awaited Srimandir Parikrama project. The officials also held special discussions on construction work, sanitation, vehicular movement, drinking water supply, uninterrupted power supply, wide dissemination of programmes and the convenience of devotees and servitors.

Chief Secretary Shri Jena has directed to complete all the works related to parikrama project on a war footing by the evening of 12 January.

Presiding over the important meeting, Mr. Jena said that the plantation for the Srimandir Parikrama Project will begin on The 12th and the project will be launched on the 17th with the completion of the Yajna . In view of this, the crowd of devotees and devotees in the shrine will increase unexpectedly . Therefore, he directed to make all arrangements for vehicular movement and civic amenities.

The meeting was attended by Development Commissioner, Anu Garg , ACS Urban Development, G Mathivathnan, Principal Secretary Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water, Sushil Kumar Lohani, Principal Secretary Finance, Vishal Dev, Principal Secretary Public Works Vir Vikram Yadav, Secretary Rural Development and Information and Public Relations, Sanjay Kumar Singh.

Mission Shakti and Odia Language, Sujata Karthikeyan, Secretary, Department of Literature and Culture, Sachin R Jadav, Director Tourism Transport Commissioner, Amitabh Thakur, Director Information and Public Relations Saroj Kumar Samal, Chief Administrator SJTA, Ranjan Kumar Das, Puri District Collector Samarth Verma, Superintendent of Police, Kanwar Vishal Singh and senior officials of various departments participated in the discussion.

All the repairs required for the project and land leveling work have been directed to be completed with the help of truck association. Parking arrangements have been made at Samang for devotees coming from outside. For this, route charts will be put up in different parts of the city and geo-locations will be circulated on social media. Vehicles will leave the devotees at Jagannathballav and stay at Samang. 120 temporary toilets will be constructed there. On the other hand, public vehicles will be stationed at Malatipatpur stand. Arrangements for drinking water, irrigation and rest will also be madeat various places from Samanga to the temple. There will be a temporary flush basin near the temple.

All the parking lots constructed by The Odisha State Bridge Corporation will be handed over to the police by The 8th . 2 KV DG sets will be provided daily to 20 monasteries near the temple . Special parking arrangements will be made for servitors near the temple . A welcome toran will be built in Srisetu .

The police will set up vehicle control rooms at various places in the city . The construction of a mandap in front of the Prrikrama project , a special exhibition will be organized near Jagannathballav and cultural activities will be performed every evening . Rice will be collected from various panchayats of the state for the lord’s work and the temple authorities will make arrangements for their storage .

The Sankittan mandali with seven decorated chariots will circumambulate The Baddand. The parikrama project launch programmes will be broadcast through satellite. Media lounges will be opened for media persons. It was also decided in the meeting to provide emergency medical services, adequate lighting and CCTV cameras.

Prior to the meeting, Chief Secretary Mr. Jena along with the officials went to Samang and Jagannathballav parking lots, Shridanda, Sri Setu and Parikrama Path and inquired about various facts during the field visit.
