Bhubaneswar: Chief Secretary Shrimati Anu Garg chaired a high-level review meeting with district collectors through virtual mode at Lokseva Bhawan to evaluate the progress of various departmental initiatives across the state.
The session involved senior officials, including Development Commissioner Shri Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh and Housing and Urban Development Additional Chief Secretary Shrimati Usha Padhee, alongside Secretaries from multiple departments.
Shri D V Swamy, Principal Secretary Labour & ESI, Secretary Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Shri SAchin Ramachandra Jadhav and others attended the meeting.
A central focus of the meeting was directed toward the Labour and Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) Department. The Chief Secretary led discussions on essential welfare measures and structural developments in the labour sector. Key priority areas included ensuring proper land allocation for the setup of a 100-bed ESI hospital to enhance healthcare infrastructure for workers.Labour Commissioner Shri Indramani Tripathy was present in the meeting.
To strengthen enforcement and child safety, discussions emphasized holding regular meetings of the District Level Task Force aimed at the elimination of child labour. The meeting also underscored the necessity of active Labour Inspection Committees to safeguard workforce rights and safety standards. Furthermore, safety management in industrial sectors was reviewed, with directives given for holding regular meetings and conducting mock drills through District and Local Crisis Management Groups to mitigate chemical disaster risks.
In addition to labour matters, the Chief Secretary reviewed projects across urban development, health, agriculture, and education sectors. District collectors were instructed to coordinate efficiently with respective departments to resolve land acquisition and implementation challenges within set timelines, ensuring development and welfare benefits reach beneficiaries smoothly.
