CRUT Boosts Road Safety

Bhubaneswar: Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) is redoubling its efforts to ensure road safety through its ‘Zero Accident Day’ initiative. As part of this commitment, daily counseling sessions and the administration of the Road Safety Pledge are now standard practice across all CRUT depots and operational terminals.

These sessions are specifically designed to educate crew members on safe driving practices, reinforce their responsibilities, and cultivate a strong culture of accountability and care on the roads.

Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary, Housing & Urban Development visited CRUT’s Naraj Depot. During her visit, she engaged in an interactive session with crew members and administered the Road Safety Oath, urging them to uphold the highest standards of service and safety.

“Safety begins with each one of us,” remarked Smt. Padhee. “As frontline service providers, CRUT crew members carry the trust of thousands of citizens every day. Let us pledge to ensure that every journey is not just timely, but safe and dependable.”

Smt. Padhee also emphasized the crucial message of “Come Home Safe,” highlighting the well-being of both passengers and crew members and their families. She called upon all staff to deliver efficient services that also inspire confidence and trust among commuters.

Through the ‘Zero Accident Day’ campaign, CRUT aims to significantly reduce road incidents, enhance driving discipline, and improve the overall commuting experience in the capital region. CRUT remains dedicated to providing safe, reliable, and inclusive public transport for all, while prioritizing the safety of its workforce and the public it serves.

It’s worth noting that the Hon’ble Prime Minister recently flagged off 100 new electric buses under CRUT. These new buses will operate from the newly inaugurated, state-of-the-art Naraj Electric Bus Depot, which was constructed using the latest green building technology.

With “AMA BUS” services already running on 11 routes in Puri, Bhubaneswar, and Cuttack, the addition of these 100 buses will expand services to 8 new routes within the Capital Region.
