Bhubaneswar: A day after resigning from the Congress, Khariar MLA Adhiraj Panigrahi joined the Governing Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
Shri Panigrahi joined the BJD here at a special function at Sankha Bhawan in presence of party general secretary (organization) Pranab Prakash Das, Manas Mangaraj and BJD Women Wing Chief Snehangini Chhuria.
The MLA said he joined the BJD inspired by the works of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. “The Chief Minister always says we believe in works and not words. Accepting this as a pledge, I joined the BJD,” he said.
Stating that he will work for building a New Odisha…Nabin Odisha, Shri Panigrahi thanked the CM, 5T Chairman V K Pandian, Organisational Secretary Pranab Prakash Das for accepting him in the Biju Parivar.
He submitted his resignation letter to the OPCC President Sarat Pattanayak yesterday. “People of Khariar wanted me to quit Congress to take the constituency further on the path of development,” he said in the letter.
He further informed that he does not have any differences with any Congress leader. “But present political situation, organisational weakness of the party and advice of people forced me to take the decision to resign from the party,” the MLA added.
In 2019, Shri Panigrahi was elected as the Congress nominee from the Kharial assembly constituency.
He was very active in Assembly and raised many vital issues pertaining to people’s problem.
