Bhubaneswar: Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, a prominent Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Lawmaker from the Bolangir constituency and President of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), celebrated his 50th birthday today.
He received heartfelt wishes from across the political spectrum, including Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida and other senior Ministers.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended his “heartiest congratulations and best wishes” to Shri Singh Deo via a post on X, adding, “I pray to Lord Shri Jagannath for his healthy, long and peaceful life.”
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida and senior Minister Prithviraj Harichandan also conveyed their warm greetings on the social media platform.
Smt.Parida wished Shri Singh Deo “heartiest birthday greetings and congratulations,” echoing the sentiment of praying to Lord Shri Jagannath for his “healthy and peaceful life.”
Shri Harichandan, too, prayed for Shri Singh Deo’s “good health and a long & a peaceful life.”
A visibly touched Shri Singh Deo expressed his gratitude to both DCM and Minister on X, writing, “Grateful to Hon Dy CM @PravatiPOdisha for the warm wishes & blessings.
“Grateful to Hon Minister @PrithivirajBJP for the warm wishes & blessings”, said Shri Singh Deo.
Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, the son of veteran political leader Ananga Udaya Singh Deo, has had a distinguished career in Odisha politics.
He first entered the State Legislative Assembly in 2004, representing the Saintala Constituency. His political career saw him serve two terms as a Member of Parliament, being elected to the Lok Sabha from the prestigious Bolangir seat in both 2009 and 2014.
In the recently concluded 2024 elections, he was once again elected to the Assembly, this time from Bolangir, demonstrating his continued commitment to public service and his strong connection with the people of his constituency. He is known for his active participation in significant debates within the House, contributing thoughtfully to discussions aimed at building a developed Odisha.
Beyond his political contributions, Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo was elected as the President of the National Rifle Association of India in September 2024, after serving as the senior Vice-President.
His leadership in this role is crucial for promoting and developing shooting sports in India, a responsibility he has embraced with a focus on enhancing training infrastructure and nurturing talent.
