CM Visits Native Village

Keonjhar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today visited his native village Raikala in Keonjhar district for the first time after assuming the top post in the State.

The Chief Minister, who began his two-day visit to Keonjhar district on Sunday, visited his village Raikala today and met his family members and near and dear ones.

As soon as he reached Raikala, a rousing welcome was given to the Chief Minister in a traditional way. Later, Shri Majhi led a roadshow from Raikala to Durga field in Jhumpura.

Shri Majhi’s relatives have prepared pure Odia dishes like Pakahala, Saga Vaja, Badi chura, etc to Majhi. The CM’s mother served him lunch with her own hands.  He also interacted with the villagers during his first visit to his native place after assuming the office of Chief Minister.

Addressing a gathering, the Chief Minister became emotional while remembering his childhood and earlier days that he spent in the area. He appealed to his localite not to worry if did not respond to their phone call because he has taken a big responsibility in the shoulder to run the State. It was the very people who had elected him and made him the CM, Majhi said.

Keonjhar is rich in minerals but some people have been exploiting the district. Now, the BJP government has come to power and the exploitation and loot of minerals will be stopped, he said.

“If we will properly utilize the minerals available in our district, Keonjhar will emerge as the most developed district. We have to take a pledge in this direction,” Majhi said.

Attacking the previous BJD government, he said the development works were not moving on the right track during BJD government’s tenure. The previous government had exploited the people, did not work for the development of the people and insulted the women.
