Bhubaneswar: In a noble gesture and an intelligent move, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today invited Leader of Opposition (LoP) Naveen Patnaik to attend the birth anniversary of legendary leader Biju Patnaik on 5 March.
The Chief Minister has penned down a letter to Shri Patnaik in this regard and invited the LoP and son of Legendary Biju Patnaik to join as a “distinguished guest” at the State-level meeting at 7 PM at Jayadev Bhawan here to celebrate the birth anniversary of Biju Patnaik.
Earlier on 3 March, the State Government had announced to celebrate the birth anniversary of Biju Patnaik on 5 March in a grand manner. However, it cancelled the public holiday saying to observe the Panchayati Raj Diwas on 24 April instead of 5 March.
The State Government’s decision to cancel the public holiday on 5 March and change the date of Panchayati Raj Diwas celebration has been strongly condemned and opposed by the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD. Now all eyes are on Shri Patnaik whether he will attend the government function or not.
