Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government has reiterated its commitment to streamlining the paddy procurement system and prioritizing farmers’ welfare during a high-level review meeting.

Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi chaired a discussion at Lokaseba Bhawan with the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) representing Sambalpur and Baragarh districts to ensure seamless procurement operations in these regions.

During the session, lawmakers were briefed extensively on the latest logistics, operational management, and data trends by Chief Secretary Shrimati Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Shri Saswat Mishra, and Principal Secretary of the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh.

Principal Secretary, Shri Singh detailed out Rabi Paddy Procurement and he said that the Department of Food, Supply and Consumer Welfare is providing comprehensive facilities to farmers while maintaining transparency and efficiency across all procurement centers.

According to the latest statistical data released by the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Department up to May 19, 2026, for the Rabi 2025-26 season, the state has achieved the following milestones:

The total volume of paddy that has arrived at various market yards (mandis) stands at 7,375 metric tonnes. Out of the total arrivals, the government has successfully procured 7,314 metric tonnes of paddy and total of 1208 farmers have successfully sold their paddy crops under this procurement phase.

To ensure immediate grievance redressal and assist farmers facing any challenges during the process, the department has highlighted its active toll-free helpline number, 1967. The government remains vigilant and fully committed to safeguarding the interests of the farming community throughout the Rabi season.
