CM On Field Visit

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will personally visit Ganjam, Gajapati and Nayagarh districts to witness paddy and other crops damaged in the recent unseasonal rainfall in the state.

The Chief Minister along with Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari would visit Ranapur block of Nayagarh district, Gosani block of Gajapati and Raneilunda & Chhatrapur block of Ganjam district, official sources said.

Similarly, Deputy Chief Minister K V Singh Deo would visit Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur districts while another Deputy CM Pravati Parida would make field visit in the districts of Bhadrak and Balasore.

Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra would assess the damage of crops in Kendrapara and Jajpur districts. Cooperation Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta to visit the damaged crop areas in Khurda district.

Earlier in the day, Chairing a high-level meeting to review the situation, the Chief Minister had directed agriculture officials to ensure that all farmers affected by the unseasonal rains get financial assistance and asked them to submit an assessment report by December 30.

After receiving the report, the assistance money would be directly credited into the bank accounts of the farmers, he said.

It was informed in the meeting that 1.26 lakh farmers have so far informed about the losses and damage of their crop under the PM Fasal Bima Yojana.

Shri Majhi said farmers of the state have sustained losses due to unseasonal rains since December 20. He appealed to farmers to submit to the government the details of their crop damage by December 29.
