New Delhi: Odisha Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi met Union Minister of Home Affairs and Cooperation Shri Amit Shah in the national capital today to discuss a wide range of strategic issues, including internal security, law and order, cooperative sector development, and industrial growth across the state.
The bilateral high-level dialogue focused on maintaining administrative stability and accelerating state development under the dual-governance model of the state and central leadership. During the meeting, Chief Minister Shri Majhi briefed the Union Home Minister on the prevailing security landscape and key developmental initiatives currently underway in Odisha.
A major point of discussion involved internal security and the ongoing consolidation of peace following significant reductions in Left Wing Extremism across the region. Chief Minister Shri Majhi expressed appreciation to the central government for its support, noting that joint counter-insurgency efforts and targeted security measures have helped establish a stable environment across erstwhile Maoist-affected zones.
To ensure lasting peace and socio-economic integration in these areas, the state administration is implementing targeted welfare programs under the Gramodaya Yojana. This initiative focuses on expanding essential infrastructure, delivering central and state welfare schemes directly to local communities, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities.
With Odisha experiencing rapid industrial expansion, Chief Minister Shri Majhi requested enhanced central assistance to build a robust industrial security framework. Protecting key industrial corridors, critical infrastructure, and major manufacturing clusters is seen as vital for maintaining high investor confidence and sustaining long-term economic growth.
The leaders also reviewed initiatives aimed at revitalizing the state cooperative sector. Discussions highlighted central support provided for economic revival efforts, including structural assistance for sugar mills and local agricultural cooperatives designed to boost rural incomes and strengthen grass-roots financial institutions.
Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah commended the proactive measures undertaken by the Odisha Government and reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to supporting the state’s comprehensive development roadmap. Both leaders reiterated their shared objective of building an empowered and prosperous Odisha through synchronized policy execution and strong central-state cooperation.
