CM Meets HM

New Delhi: Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi, held a courtesy call with Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah on 6 August, focusing on critical issues of state development, Centre-State coordination, and law enforcement. The meeting is seen as a key step in strengthening the relationship between the new state government and the Centre.

According to sources, a primary topic of discussion was the implementation of the three new criminal laws—the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam. Home Minister Shri Shah reportedly advised the Chief Minister to ensure the new laws are implemented with 100% efficiency across the state within the next six months. He also outlined a structured review process, with the Chief Minister to conduct monthly reviews and senior officials to hold more frequent check-ins.

The two leaders also discussed broader issues concerning the state, including police modernization, law and order, and developmental initiatives in regions affected by Naxalism.

Recently, Shri Majhi participated in the Eastern Zonal Council meeting in Ranchi, which was chaired by Shri Shah. During that meeting, the Chief Minister had strongly advocated for stronger Centre-State collaboration. He reiterated Odisha’s commitment to the “Vikasit Bharat” vision, calling the council meeting a crucial forum for transformative governance and a platform to address regional priorities.

CM Shri Majhi’s administration has already highlighted several key initiatives aimed at state development, including:

  • Women’s Empowerment: The “Subhadra Yojana” to provide financial assistance and the “Lakhpati Didi” program aimed at empowering women economically.
  • Healthcare: The “Integrated ABPMJAY-GJAY” scheme to provide cashless health coverage to residents.
  • Education: The launch of the “Godabarish Mishra Adarsha Prathamik Vidyalaya” scheme to establish 835 model primary schools.

The Chief Minister’s proactive engagement with the central leadership and his focus on aligning state-level priorities with national goals signal a concerted effort to accelerate Odisha’s development agenda.
