Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi advised District Collectors to keep vigil on the development program implementation at Block Level, so that as Last Mile Connectivity of the Government, DMs are to play their role as ‘Grassroot Bridges”.
Chief Minister Shri Majhi said this while addressing a two-day District Collector’s conference began at Lok Sewa Bhawan Convention Centre in Bhubaneswar on 27 September.
Presiding over the conference, Chief Minister Shri Majhi clearly stated the government’s stand and also made them aware of the mistakes earlier took place at the administrative level from his own experience.
The Chief Minister said that it is very important that all the schemes of the government start on time and complete on time. But there are times when it is inordinately delayed. This is causing inconvenience to the public as well as irregularities, corruption and project costs. Therefore, the Chief Minister suggested to ensure the quality of the project.
In order to ensure that all the schemes are implemented on time, the District Collectors should keep a close watch on the financial and physical progress in their respective districts on a daily basis. It also needs to conduct a block-wise quarterly review of each scheme. From this quarterly review, one will get to know all the problems and take the right steps to take the plan on the right track.
Stating that he has come to know about several irregularities during the last government, the Chief Minister said, “You should look into the matter, if any such irregularities come to your notice, check them and take necessary steps.” I am confident that you have the right to use it to take appropriate action.” The Chief Minister said that the government will not tolerate corruption at any level, in any way. There is no question of any compromise on corruption. “This can be as clear a message as possible from me”.
The Chief Minister said that the District Collectors are the grassroots bridges (last mile connectivity) for the government. The government can make better plans and policies for the welfare of the people. But district collectors and district-level officials play a key role in taking these schemes to the final beneficiaries.
The Chief Minister further said that if the scheme is implemented successfully, its benefits will reach the people. The responsibility of successful implementation is in your hands. When the government’s schemes are implemented, poverty will be removed from our state, there will be a smile on the faces of the people.
He said the State Government is the government of the people. And State is the partner in the happiness and sorrow of the people, we are committed to the development of the state. State Government is taking steps to give priority to sectors such as agriculture, education, health, industry, infrastructure development in rural and urban areas and the upliftment of women and accelerate the pace of economic development of the state. It is through your hard work and dedication that the benefits of all the initiatives will reach the people and our state will be the number one state in the country.
