CM Majhi Visits CIFA

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, today visited the Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA) in Bhubaneswar to participate in a state-level event marking the release of the 20th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme. The event, held at the CIFA campus, was also a platform for various programs, including a sapling plantation drive as part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign.

The PM-KISAN scheme, a flagship initiative of the central government, aims to provide financial assistance to eligible farmer families. The event at CIFA served as a central point for the state of Odisha, with the main program being a live-streamed address by the Prime Minister from Varanasi. Over 500 farmers from across the state attended the event, engaging in interactions with dignitaries and agricultural scientists.

During his visit, the Chief Minister interacted with farmers, emphasizing the state government’s commitment to their welfare and the importance of adopting modern, scientific farming practices to boost income. He highlighted various government schemes designed to support the agricultural and allied sectors.

A key part of the day’s program was the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (One Tree in the Name of Mother) campaign. This nationwide initiative, launched by the Prime Minister on World Environment Day, encourages citizens to plant a tree as a tribute to their mothers and to contribute to environmental protection. As part of this drive, Chief Minister Shri Majhi participated in a sapling plantation at the CIFA campus, underscoring the importance of environmental conservation.

The event at CIFA showcased the government’s dual focus on providing financial aid to farmers and promoting sustainable practices. The presence of the Chief Minister and other dignitaries underscored the synergy between central and state government efforts in strengthening the agricultural sector and promoting a greener, more prosperous future for the state.
