CM Majhi Meets PM Modi

New Delhi: Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, the Chief Minister of Odisha, today met with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in New Delhi. This significant interaction, taking place on July 12, 2025, underscored the commitment of the BJP Government in Odisha towards accelerated development, in alignment with the broader national vision.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) confirmed the meeting via a post on X, stating, “CM of Odisha, Shri @MohanMOdisha, met Prime Minister @narendramodi. @CMO_Odisha.”

As Odisha is now a BJP-ruled state, the discussions between Chief Minister Shri Majhi and Prime Minister Shri Modi are expected to have a strong focus on maximizing “double-engine” growth, where coordinated efforts between the central and state governments aim to expedite progress. Key development issues for Odisha, including central assistance for state projects, efficient implementation of central schemes, and strategies for boosting economic growth across various sectors, were likely prominent on the agenda.

A crucial element in Odisha’s developmental roadmap is the “Vikas Odisha 2036 and 2047” vision document. This comprehensive blueprint was officially released by Prime Minister Modi himself on June 20, 2025, in Bhubaneswar, during an event marking one year of the BJP government in Odisha.

The vision document outlines ambitious targets for the state’s progress, strategically pegged to two significant dates: the centenary of Odisha’s formation as a state in 2036, and the 100th anniversary of India’s independence in 2047.

The “Vikas Odisha” document envisions transforming Odisha into a USD 500 billion economy by 2036 and further to a USD 1.5 trillion economy by 2047. It is structured around six foundational pillars: People First, Rural Empowerment, People-Centric Governance, Prosperity for All, Our Legacy Our Pride, and Technology Leading the Way.

The plan includes a “Manufacturing Mission” to position Odisha among India’s top five manufacturing states, and aims to strengthen the state’s status as Asia’s premier hub for mining and metals. Furthermore, it emphasizes social inclusion, with goals for 100% pucca housing, piped water, sanitation, and electricity access by 2036, and women-led development initiatives.

The Chief Minister’s meeting with the Prime Minister today serves to reinforce the state’s commitment to these long-term developmental goals and to ensure robust support from the Union government in realizing the aspirations outlined in the “Vikas Odisha 2036 and 2047” vision.
