CM Lauds Manoj Mohanty

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi publicly lauded IAS officer Manoj Kumar Mohanty for his principled approach to administration and his respect for grassroots-level elected representatives.

Speaking at a meeting of Chief Development Officers (CDOs) and Block Development Officers (BDOs) held at Lok Seva Bhawan, the Chief Minister shared his personal experiences with Shri Mohanty.

Shri Majhi fondly recalled his time as Sarpanch of Raikala Panchayat in Keonjhar Sadar Block during the late 1990s, when Shri Mohanty served as the Block Development Officer (BDO).

Raikala Panchayat falls under Keonjhar Sadar Block. Shri Mohanty, a 2012 batch IAS officer, is scheduled to retire on June 31, 2025, and currently holds the position of Additional Secretary in the General Administration Department, which is headed by the Chief Minister.

“I remember the good actions of Shri Mohanty when he was BDO in my area. He is a ‘Man of Principle’,” Chief Minister Shri Majhi stated.

He expressed concern about reports of BDOs not showing adequate respect to elected representatives, including MLAs, highlighting Shri Mohanty’s exemplary conduct in contrast.

“Shri Mohanty used to give respect to all while discharging his duties as BDO,” the Chief Minister emphasized.

Shri Mohanty is known as an “honest, upright, and hardworking officer,” admired for his sincerity and impartiality.

The Chief Minister’s public appreciation underscores the importance of ethical and respectful conduct in public service, especially in interactions between administrative officers and elected officials.
