CM Favors More Mineral Production

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasized the importance of managing mines and increasing production for mining-based industries.

Chief Minister Shri Majhi said this while reviewing the workings of the Steel and Mining Department.

Minister of Steel and Mines, Commerce and Transport, Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Surendra Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary, Steel and Mines, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Nikunj Bihari Dhal, Director Mines, G Rajesh and other senior officials. 

Surendra Kumar, ACS, Steel and Mines informed about the work of the Department and gave information about the future goals.

Chief Minister also directed to take steps to increase mining revenue in the state. 

He suggested strengthening the enforcement system with more manpower to prevent illegal mining and theft of the mineral. 

The Chief Minister asked for more leases in the field of minor minerals.

 It is worth noting that the observed geological potential area in the state is 55,003 square kilometers.   

Odisha ranks number one in the country in the production of minerals like chromite, bauxite, iron ore.  

Similarly, it ranks second in coal production and third in manganese production. 

Senior officials of the Department of Finance and Mining were present in the meeting.
