CM Connects with ‘Mann Ki Baat

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi today demonstrated a commitment to environmental conservation and tribal welfare by attending Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ program with children at the Banabasi Kalyan Ashram in Bhubaneswar’s Mancheswar Industrial Zone.

Chief Minister Shri Majhi joined the children in planting a sapling, symbolizing the importance of nurturing nature for future generations.

During the 124th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Prime Minister Shri Modi particularly lauded an inspiring initiative from Odisha: “Sankirtan For Saving Nature,” led by Pramila Pradhan from Murgapahadi village in Keonjhar district.

The Prime Minister highlighted how Pramila, a humble farmer and leader of the “Radhakrushna Sankirtan Mandali,” has uniquely blended traditional devotional music with a powerful message of environmental protection.

Her troupe performs modified kirtans and bhajans across villages, raising awareness about the devastating impact of forest fires and other ecological concerns.

Pramila’s dedication was sparked by a deeply moving incident in 2010 when she witnessed a deer perish due to a forest fire and human fear. Her efforts have reportedly led to a significant reduction in forest fires and poaching in areas where her troupe has performed. This recognition holds special significance as Chief Minister Majhi also hails from Keonjhar.

The Banabasi Kalyan Ashram, where the event took place, is a prominent social welfare organization dedicated to the holistic upliftment of tribal communities across India.

With programs spanning education, healthcare, economic development (including skill development and agricultural training), and cultural preservation, the Ashram works to empower tribal populations and integrate them into the mainstream while preserving their rich heritage.

The Bhubaneswar center is one of many across the country providing essential services and fostering community development in remote areas.
