Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of the foundation day of the Capital City, a cultural program was organized by the Department of Odia Language, Literature and Culture in the evening.
Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue & Disaster Management, Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Satyabrata Sahoo inaugurated the programme by lighting a lamp .
Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Commissioner, Rajesh B Patil, Director, Information and Public Relations Department, Saroj Kumar Samal, Collector, Khurda, Chanchal Rana, BMC Additional Commissioner Subhendu Kumar Sahu, Director (Technical) of Information and Public Relations Department Surendra Nath Parida, office bearers of The Capital Foundation Day Celebration Committee were present as the guests of honour.
After welcoming the guests, Chief Guest Shri Sahu cut a “cake” on the occasion of the foundation day of the capital and brought back memories of the birthday celebrations of Bhubaneswar.
Bhajans and sugam music by Diptirekha Padhi, Bishnu Mohan Kabi, Swastik Padhi and Ipsita Panda and Sambalpuri folk dance by Shankar Behera and his companions of Loisingha in Balangir district were performed under the direction of renowned music director and vocalist Shri Prem Anand and Prashant Padhi. A large number of people were present at the Jayadev Bhavan theatre and enjoyed the cultural programme.
All major government offices in the capital, including the site of the foundation stone laying ceremony at Vidhana Soudha, were decorated with lights on the occasion of the day .
Statues of various great personalities in the city, including the foundation stone laying ceremony of the capital, were also garlanded. Rajdhani Pratishtha Diwas Torans were displayed at various places in the state capital Bhubaneswar . Officials of the State Information and Public Relations Department, Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, Department of Roads, BDA and office bearers of The Capital Foundation Day Celebration Committee extended all cooperation in organizing the festival.
Sucheta Priyadarshini and Biswajit Baliyar Singh, Deputy Directors, Department of Information and Public Relations coordinated the programme. Necessary law and order and traffic control arrangements were made by the Twin City Police.
