CII Odisha Annual Meet

Bhubaneswar: The Annual Meeting of CII Odisha recently served as a high-level platform for the session titled Odisha Leading: Partnerships for Sustainable and Inclusive Growth.

Minister Industries, Shri Sampad Chandra Swain, Chief Secretary Shrimati Anu Garg, ACS Home, Industries and I&PR Shri Hemant Sharma graced the occasion.

This gathering emphasized the critical role of industry-government synergy in accelerating industrial development, fostering innovation, and ensuring that economic expansion remains inclusive across the state.

Shri Anil Kumar Singh, Chairman of the CII Odisha State Council, opened the proceedings by highlighting the state’s successful transition into diversified sectors such as electronics, IT, and advanced manufacturing.

During the inaugural address, Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain stressed that sustainable economic progress is rooted in strong partnerships and the integration of large enterprises with MSMEs.

The government is currently engaging with stakeholders in specialized fields like pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and logistics to build robust industrial ecosystems. To support the next phase of expansion, the state is prioritizing the industrial park model and the development of regional industrial corridors.

Chief Secretary Shrimati Anu Garg shared that Odisha’s GDP has surpassed 10 lakh crore, and the state has been recognized by NITI Aayog as a top performer in the Fiscal Health Index. She pointed to significant infrastructure projects, including the proposed Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Paradeep-Puri Economic Corridor, and encouraged investment in the Odisha AI Mission, real estate, and tourism.

Further outlining the industrial roadmap, Additional Chief Secretary Home, Industries and I&PR, Shri Hemant Sharma stated that manufacturing contributes approximately 47% to the GSDP. He projected a requirement for 30 lakh crore in investments over the next two decades, focusing on downstream metals, chemicals, and emerging sectors like aerospace and defense.

The meeting concluded with the presentation of the CII Industry Carnival 2025 Awards to recognize local industrial innovation. Additionally, a special interactive session allowed young entrepreneurs to share insights on the startup landscape, emphasizing the importance of mentorship and access to capital for a future-ready Odisha.
